Context-Aware Access policies can now be applied to all internal and third-party apps using OpenID Connect
Admins can now apply Context-Aware Access (CAA) policies to apps which use OpenID Connect (OIDC), which are a subset of OAuth apps that are authenticated using Google sign-in. Adding image support to Gemini in the side panel of Google Drive

we’re happy to announce that Gemini can now answer questions or give you summaries about images in Drive. Image editing now available in the Gemini app

We’re bringing a significant update to the Gemini app for Google Workspace users: the introduction of powerful image editing capabilities. The updates will enable you to reimagine photos with prompts. You can start with a generated image or upload your own, and then prompt Gemini to combine it with other photos, change the context or location, change details within the image, and more. | Learn more about image editing in the Gemini app.

Gemini in Google Sheets helps you create dynamic and easily referenced tables
Building on the introduction of intelligent suggestions for table conversion, we’re now using Gemini to make tables in Sheets even more useful. Now, when you accept a “Convert to table” suggestion, Gemini will automatically format your data as a table and create a meaningful table name (e.g., Project_Status). | Learn more about using Gemini to make Sheets tables even more useful.

Edit videos more easily using the transcript in Google Vids

We know it's common for people to record themselves and later discover distracting pauses, and “uhms” and “uhs.” Or, after recording, you could decide you want to cut out an entire sentence to shorten a clip. Instead of having to record the entire clip over, Gemini in Vids can now generate a transcript of your recording, and then identify and trim filler words and awkward pauses out of the transcript with one click to help you sound your best and eliminate tedious editing tasks. | Learn more about editing via the transcript in Google Vids.

Deliver your message with AI avatars in Google Vids

Starting today, you can deliver a polished and consistent message by writing a script and choosing an AI avatar to deliver your content in Google Vids. Simply go to vids.new, click “AI Avatars”, type a script in the AI avatar right side panel, choose a persona, and Vids will generate a video for you to preview within minutes. Whether you need a reliable way to present information clearly for a dozen training videos or you don’t have time or budget to film the right spokesperson for your video, AI avatars provide a fast, consistent way to narrate your videos. | Learn more about generating AI avatars in Vids.

Convert images to video with Veo 3 in Google Vids
With this launch, you can upload an image into Google Vids and input a prompt to convert the image into a high quality eight-second video with sound. Daily Exports for Google Drive inventory reporting is now available in open beta

Edit your Google Drive videos in your browser, using Google Vids
Users now have a quicker way to start editing right from Drive, using Google Vids. With this launch, when a user is previewing their video in Drive, there will be an "Open" button in the upper right that will open the video in Vids. Let others easily book time with you using the new pre-configured Google Calendar booking page

Arrow keys now move an object by a pixel distance in Google Slides

Catch up on unread messages within a conversation in Google Chat
You can currently use Gemini in Google Chat to summarize unread conversations in the Chat home view and to summarize files shared in conversations. Coming soon: A refreshed user interface for Google Meet hardware touch controllers, test it now in preview

Increased credit limit for Google AI Ultra for Business users and expanded country availability to Whisk

Previously only available on web, you can now add an event to your calendar directly from an email using Gemini in Gmail on Android and iOS devices. Full screen for screen sharing in Google Meet

Google Workspace Updates Weekly Recap - July 11, 2025

6 New updates

Veo 3 is now available in the Gemini app for select Workspace users
At Google I/O 2025 we introduced Veo 3, our new latest video generation model that can generate video with audio. Today, Veo 3 is now available in the Gemini app for select Workspace customers.

With Veo 3 you'll notice real-world physics and accurate lip syncing - this includes things like traffic noises in the background of a city street scene, birds singing in a park, and even dialogue between characters. We also introduced a new photo to video feature that allows you to upload a photo and create an 8-second video. You can get creative by animating everyday objects, bringing your drawings and paintings to life or adding movement to nature scenes.

There is a limit of 3 daily uses for enterprise and education users and 5 daily uses for those with the Google AI Ultra for Business add-on. When you are approaching this limit, you’ll see a warning message in the UI. Teams can also generate video clips with Veo in Google Vids as well. | Rolling out now to Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains. | Available when using the Gemini app with Google Workspace Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus and the Gemini Business and Education add-ons. | Visit our Help Center to learn more about generating videos with Gemini and which countries & territories. Adding Google Calendar sharing to Android devices
In Google Calendar, you can share any calendar you own or have permission to share with other users and groups. This functionality is currently available on web only, and this week we’re excited to extend it to Android devices. The same settings available on web will now be available on your mobile device, which includes the ability to share a calendar with individuals, a domain or the entire public. | Rolling out now to Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains. | Available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual Subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts. | Visit the Help Center to learn more about sharing your calendar with someone.

Automatically level audio across a video in Google Vids with balance sound
In May, we preannounced the ability to easily adjust sound levels across videos in Google Vids. Starting today, users can automatically level the volume of audio and video clips in their Vids and add audio ducking to background music, which automatically lowers (or "ducks") music when another audio or video clip’s volume starts playing. | Rollout to Rapid Release domains is complete; launch to Scheduled Release domains planned for July 21, 2025. | Available to Google Workspace customers with access to Google Vids. | Visit the Help Center to learn more about controlling audio timing, balance & transitions with audio tracks.

Gemini summary cards now available in Gmail on web
In May, we introduced Gemini summary cards in Gmail on Android and iOS devices. This week, we’re excited to announce that summaries will be available on web as well, at the top of emails for messages where a summary is helpful, such as longer email threads or messages with several replies. | Rollout to Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains is complete. | Available to Google Workspace Business Starter, Standard and Plus; Enterprise Starter, Standard and Plus; customers with the Gemini Education or Gemini Education Premium add-on, and anyone who previously purchased a Gemini Business or Gemini Enterprise add-on. | Visit the Help Center to learn more about collaborating with Gemini in Gmail.

Introducing a refreshed user interface in Google Drive for Desktop
In order to provide desktop users with a centralized area to easily manage all of their Drive files in one place, we’ve introduced improvements to Google Drive for desktop. A new look and feel is coming for the Workspace Updates Blog

Manage email subscriptions from a single location in Gmail

Search for embedded content in Google Sites
Starting today, we're making it easier to find information within a Google Site. Previously, searching in a site only showed results from the text directly on the pages. Drive IRM Update: More Control for File Owners and Shared Drive Managers
Now, individual file owners and shared drive managers can apply printing, copying, and downloading restrictions to users with edit permissions as well. Introducing Lucidchart and Lucidspark apps in Google Chat

Providing support for Microsoft Office embedded files in Google Drive
To ensure users have a seamless experience when working with Microsoft Office files, we’re excited to announce that users can now open Microsoft Office files that contain embedded PDFs in Google Drive. | Rolling out now to Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains. | Available to Google Workspace customers, Google Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts. | Visit the Help Center to learn more about working with Microsoft Office files.

Use Imagen 4 to generate images in Google Docs, Slides and Vids in multiple languages

View the most relevant search results in Gmail
Over the years, we’ve implemented updates to help you find exactly what you’re looking for with less effort when searching in Gmail. In March, we announced a smarter search feature powered by AI to quickly show users the most relevant results, and today we’re excited to extend this to businesses. Now, instead of just showing emails in chronological order based on keywords, Gmail search results will factor in elements like recency, most-clicked emails and frequent contacts. With this update, the emails you’re looking for are far more likely to be at the top of your search results — saving you valuable time and helping you find important information more easily. Automated meeting recording, transcripts and notes available in seven additional languages
Currently, when an Admin pre-configures meeting recordings, meeting transcripts, or “Take notes for me” in Meet as ON by default for newly created meetings, the artifacts are generated in English. Today, we’re expanding the language availability to include:

French
German
Italian
Japanese
Korean
Portuguese
Spanish

The meeting artifacts will automatically be generated in the meeting host’s language if it is supported. | Rolling out now to Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains. | Meeting recordings and transcripts are available to Google Workspace Business Plus; Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Essentials Plus; Enterprise Standard, Plus; Education Plus, and the Teaching and Learning add-on. “Take notes for me” is available to Business Standard and Business Plus; Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus; the Gemini Education and Education Premium add-on and those customers who previously purchased a Gemini Business, Gemini Enterprise or AI Meetings & Messages add-on. | Admins visit the Help Center to learn more about choosing automatic meeting artifact settings for your organization. | End users visit the Help Center to learn more about recording a meeting, using meeting Transcripts, and taking notes with Gemini in Meet. Studio lighting in Google Meet is now available on all devices

We’re pleased to announce that studio lighting in Google Meet is now available on all devices. Video file uploads are now available to Google Workspace users in the Gemini mobile app

You can now upload videos stored on your mobile device to provide more context to your prompts in the Gemini mobile app. You can ask Gemini to summarize the video, ask Gemini specific questions about the video and more. | Rollout to Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains is complete. | Available to all Google Workspace users with access to the Gemini app. | Visit the Help Center to learn more about how to upload and analyze files in the Gemini Apps.

Boost productivity with scheduled actions in Gemini

You can now use scheduled actions in Gemini to create personalized updates, set reminders, or complete routine tasks in a chat or based on existing prompts. You can set these actions to your preferred frequency, be it a single reminder, or daily or weekly updates. Some ways you can use scheduled actions are:

Daily summaries of your calendar, to-do list, and unread emails for the day ahead.
Daily news briefings: deliver a concise, easy-to-digest summary of the day’s top news stories or a specific topic.
Competitive landscape monitoring: Monitor online news, press releases, social media content, and more based on a specific industry.
Weekly vocabulary builders: Receive a curated list of new vocabulary words, complete with definitions and example sentences, tailored to your learning level.

Rollout to Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains is complete. | Available with a qualifying edition of Google Workspace for Gemini on the web and mobile and in all supported languages. Google Drive log events now include search related information

We’re expanding Drive log events in the security investigation tool to include search events. This includes information on resources returned from a search, the query the user entered, and more. Admins can use this information to help assess whether there is normal search behavior or whether the behavior was anomalous and indicating potential data exfiltration.
