Settings -> Notifications and Sounds -> Include muted chats in unread count

this setting completely disables the display of muted messages.
since in macOS you can't make gray badges, one of the options to show that there are no active messages, but there are muted ones is to display just a dot like in slack

Maybe just add 🔇 to the count?
