    Rangers 2-1 Motherwell

    Rangers survived a late scare to beat Motherwell 2-1 and move second in the SWPL.

    Brogan Hay put Rangers in front when the winger found the back of the net following a double save from Motherwell goalkeeper Rebecca Cameron.

    Striker Katie Wilkinson thought she had doubled the hosts' advantage late on in the second half but she was flagged for offside.

    Kirsty Howat grabbed the second in the early stages of the second half when she latched onto a cutting pass through the heart of the Motherwell team.

    Carla Boyce pulled one back for the visitors with 10 minutes left to play at Broadwood but couldn't snatch a point.

    The result leaves Rangers two points behind Celtic at the top of the table before next weekend's Old Firm clash.

    Montrose 0-2 Aberdeen

    Aberdeen scored either side of half-time to beat Montrose 2-0 in their first SWPL win of the season.

    Toni Leigh Finnegan gave Aberdeen the advantage deep into first half stoppage time when she headed beyond Lauren Perry who had already had to make several saves in the first half.

    Alex Clarke got Aberdeen's second early on in the second half, she rounded Perry in the Montrose goal and tapped into an empty net to get her first Dons goal.

    Hamilton Accies 0-2 Hearts

    Hearts overcame a solid Hamilton Accies side to pick up their first league win of the season with a 2-0 victory at New Douglas Park.

    It took until the second half for Hearts to break the deadlock in Hamilton, new signing Carly Johns bagged her first goal since joining in the summer when she fired in from Lauren Wade's cross.

    Substitute Georgia Timms doubled the visitors' advantage with a whipped shot from the right.

    The result moves Hearts into the top half of the SWPL table, two points behind Hibs and Glasgow City who both have a game in hand.

  6. Celtic hit seven past Partick Thistle to go toppublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 31 August

    Partick Thistle 0-7 Celtic

    Celtic moved top of the SWPL table with an impressive 7-0 victory over Partick Thistle.

    Despite a slow start at Petershill, Celtic scored three goals in four minutes to cruise into a comfortable lead before half-time.

    Amy Gallacher got Elena Sadiku's side up and running before Morgan Cross flicked home Emma Lawton's cross to double the visitors' advantage. Natalie Ross grabbed a third minutes later when she smashed a loose ball into the back of the net.

    Second half goals from Gallacher, Cross, Momo Nakao and Maria McAneny helped Celtic to a very comfortable victory away from home.

    The win leaves Celtic three points clear of Hibernian and Glasgow City at the top of the table having played one game more.
