Description
As a building dweller, I want to achieve optimal comfort in the office buildings I work in.
As a building manager, I want to achieve optimal configuration of the building devices (ventilation, temperature, etc.) while keeping energy expenditure optimal.
Preconditions:
What conditions must be in place or assumed before this use case can begin?
The dwellers have an LWS, containing their preferences, presence information in the building and feedback on comfort.
The building managers have an LWS integrating data from a wide variety of sources, managed by a variety of partners:
- Configuration of devices e.g. HVAC, temperature, etc.
- Sensor monitoring e.g. CO2, humidity, air quality, temperature, noise, etc.
- Structural building data e.g. floor plan, BIM, etc.
- General presence information e.g. meeting room reservations
Trigger:
What (user or system) event or action initiates this use case?
Dweller is present in the building and the devices should be configured to achieve optimal comfort automatically based on all the dwellers present and optimal energy usage.
Actors:
Describe the primary actor, and any other relevant actors involved in this use case
Multiple dwellers with varying desires in terms of comfort and varying working schedules (presence not known in advance).
Building managers want optimal comfort of dwellers, while also achieving optimal usage of energy.
Providers of building devices, e.g. HVAC, temperature, etc. that configure devices and monitor working.
Architects / builders who constructed the building, and designed the floor plans / BIM / etc.
Distinction:
What unique challenges or distinguishing factors (like technical issues, user experience needs, workflow integration, etc.) are associated with this use case?
- Varying LWS that need to be taken into account based on presence of dwellers.
- Temporal data originating from a large variety of sources.
- Dwellers themselves decide how much insight they provide building managers into their own data, as such varying granularity should be taken into account
Scenario:
Describe an ideal or happy-case scenario where this use case would play out as intended.
- The preferences and complaints of all the dwellers are taken into account and balanced to achieve optimal comfort for all.
- The building managers achieve optimal configuration with optimal energy consumption.
Alternative case(s):
What alternative flows or variations should the system handle for this use case?
- Visitors need to be able to give readily access to their LWS to get their preferences taken into account, and they need to be easily revoked
Error scenario:
What unexpected issues or errors might arise, and how should the system handle them?
See above
Acceptance Criteria:
What conditions or criteria must be met for this use case to be considered successfully handled? What limitations are acceptable?
- All legal requirements and laws should be followed
- Ethical considerations considering the privacy of the dwellers should be closely adhered to
