Vipsdisp can display huge (many, many gigabyte) images quickly and without
using much memory.

As well as the usual PNG, JPG, TIF, PDF, SVG, WEBP, JP2, JXL and GIF,
it supports many scientific and technical image formats, including SVS,
MRXS, OpenEXR, FITS, Matlab, NIfTI, Analyze, and PFM.

Vipsdisp supports pixel types from 1 bit mono to 128-bit double precision
complex, you can convert image formats, it support copy-paste and drag-drop,
and it has a range of useful visualisation tools and display modes.

This adds high DPI support, fixes borders in tiled rendering, and 
 fixes TIFF page pyramid detection.

Updated from nip4 again, so there should be further improvements to 
 image repaint speed and quality. There's a much better focus 
 indicator, better complex image display, and much better handling 
 of next / previous / reload.

Redone based on the revised image view widget in nip4. It should be 
 faster, smoother, with better quality output for more image 
 sources and in more image view modes.

*This is a first alpha release for testing this new
version of nip. Don't use it for anything serious!*

nip4 is a GUI for the libvips image processing library. It's a little
like a spreadsheet: you create a set of formula connecting your objects
together, and on a change nip2 will recalculate. This makes it convenient
for developing image processing systems since you can watch pixels change
as you adjust your equations.

Because nip4 uses libvips as the image processing engine it can handle very
large images and only needs a little memory. It scales to fairly complex
workflows: I've used it to develop systems with more than 10,000 cells,
analyzing images of many tens of gigabytes.

It has a batch mode, so you can run any image processing system you develop
from the command-line and without a GUI.
