If it is asking to see a payment method then you have to add one, even if it won't be used. Contrary to what many contributors to this forum state, you do not necessarily have to have a payment method on your account. I do not and I never have had one, but terms may change. However, if you are seeing a message asking to see one then you have no alternative but to enter one. It may only need to be there temporarily—it depends upon if the app has a subscription tied to it or not.

If you want to use the App Store, the only thing you can do is to add a payment method. That doesn't mean you have to pay anything, but the payment method needs to be connected
